Renaming a batch of files

Windows XP Home

Is there a way of renaming a batch of files with consecutive numbering - XP
lets you do this when importing photos from a card

Holiday 001
Holiday 002
Holiday 003
etc

Can I do this with photos already filed - it would be good to keep copies in
other folders in a different order and renumbering would be most useful

Thank you

You can rename multiple files all at once: Select a group of files, right-click the first file, and select "Rename". Type in a name for the first file, and the rest will follow.

Hi

Some freeware utilities that might help you out:

CKRename:

1-4a Rename (from the screen shoots it looks like this ones can take
sub-folders as well):

You will find a lot of utils for this here as well:
