Windows XP help really needed cpu always 100 %

how can i get this down as pc runs slow takes ages to come on and crashes frequently probably bacause the cpu being at 100%

ive tried closing processes and that dosent lowere it i dont have any programs ope and still 100 %

my pc has 512 mb ram is that the problem

Its more than likely due to spuware/malware/virus and ad ware.

open up task manager, under the processes tab you'll see a list under the column CPU, look down the list untiil you find the one reading 100 and tell us what it is

the closest to 100 by far is windows updates so updating my system will fix the problem

It could be a virus/spyware just saying that, so try those links Reef sent just incase

thats what im doing first i've got the first 2 programs working now but taking ages

ad ware se has found 130 critical files

ill see if that windows update thing is still at 97 after using all the programs

tyhanks for the help people and thanks for the help mucks i ve got viruses off and spy ware and everything but i still have avg unning after that i will download the latest windows updates then ill tell you if it has been a success and my cpu speed goes down to normal

when i looked in task manager there is a process called that keeps moving up from 70 ro 100 what can i do about this or should i leave it alone

Dunno what I did, first time I've seen this thread.

But I'll tell you one thing I find I keep repeating time and time again ... an Antivirus Program will N O T generally help in stopping Spyware infecting your system. You ALSO NEED anti-spyware programs.


Search the forum ... we have an adsolute crapload of post just like yours ...
