Help Please too many windows opening

On my desk top when I click say on explorer the
surrounding desktop icons hightlight also like grouping
together, also when i am on the internet say msn.com and i
click on one of the news sites it opens up another window
and the same if i click on something in that window it
will open up another window and so on and so on. How can I
stop this PLease help
 
Internet Options | Tools | Advanced tab ...scroll down and put a tick in
"Reuse Windows for launching shortcuts."

....also, (just in case), in Windows Explorer, drop down Tools | Folder
Options | General tab ...put a dot in the Radio button , "Open each folder
in the same Window"
