I turned off the computer and removed the jumper and started up. It
died pretty quick so I put it back on. I have no idea what I'm doing
now but I have nothing to lose... lol So i put it back and now the
BIOS is working fine??? However, after Verifying DMI Pool Data .....
it tells me:

NTLDR is missing... (CTRL ALT DEL not working to restart)

So it looks like I fixed one thing and broke another. I think the
computer gods hate me. lol I think this means I have to reinstall the
bloody OS yet again....

Ok something isn't right, everything is working... lol I think they're
the computer gods are just giving me a false hope now.

The NTLDR message was because I had my IDE WD Caviar Drive plugged in
and it was trying to boot from that. So I just unplugged it and it
booted up without a hitch. Wow, I can't believe it, I think I survived
my trip to computer hell. It must have been the praying I did to the
computer gods. Even useless things that never worked before, like my
soundcard game port, are working now!

Cheers,
Julian

Hope you're still doing fine, Julian.

So I'm guessing this was a motherboard/BIOS issue?

Thanks Dave,

I'm still not sure what was the primary cause of it. I know the mouse
error is due to an error with my USB (due to motherboard or other).
This could have had a domino or contributing effect causing the "my
computer" lag.

Here's the mouse thread:

I'm not sure, but the worst problem "my computer stall" is gone after
updating the BIOS and reinstalling the OS with SP 2. The other
problem is gone using an PS/2 ball mouse. The mouse problem only
occurring while connected online, so something to do with the Network
Card. Seems like multiple causes.

Cheers,
Julian
