I installed diskeeper 10 into my computer and it run well for a month. After
that, "diskeeper can't initiate". The problem is that the built-in
defragmenter doesn't work anymore. I uninstalled diskeeper but still can't
use windows defragmenter. Please help me to fix this. Thanks for your time.

Reinstalling Disk Defragmenter fixes this problem in most cases. You can
reinstall Disk Defragmenter using the following command:
Click Start, Run and type:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\inf\dfrg.inf

Tuan,

Did you get any error message while running the command-line? If so, pls
mention that.

You can try this also:

Click Start, click Run, type %Windir%\Inf, and then click OK.
Right-click the dfrg.inf file, and then click Install.

To launch Disk Defragmenter, type DFRG.MSC in Start, Run.

Hi Ramesh,

I've tried all the suggestions in your recommended link. I got the error
message "defragmenter could not start/ initialize" both in command line and
GUI. I thought the defrag.exe file has corrupted but I don't know how to fix.
Please give me further help. Thanks.

Reinstalling Defrag using (DFRG.INF) usually fixes the problem. But it
didn't, in your case. I'm running out of ideas, Tuan
