help please dsl setup problem

Hi,
I have a packard bell computer.I installed verizon online dsl.Now I
have a new icon by my time in the lower left corner.
When I put my mouse on it-it says Safely Remove Hardware.
How can I remove this icon without un installing my new dsl connection
modem?
I am running xp pro.

Right-click on your Taskbar and select:

Properties > Customize and click once on the
"Safely Remove Hardware Icon". From its drop-down
menu, select "always hide" and click "apply".
