Help with e-mail

M

mctiger

Hi,
I keep getting a returned e-mail. I do not even know this person.
Is it a virus? I use outlook express 6. I am using windows xp pro.
Zone alarm and avg anti-virus programs.
How can I stop these e-mails? Not even listed in my address book.
Thanks in advance.
Have sence, patience, and self-restrain,and no mischief will come.

It is most likely that someone with you in their address has been infected
with a virus that then masquerades as persons from that address book, which
address is then passed on to the next infected computer etc. Mydoom the
current plauge does this. You are probably not infected, but to be sure
ensure your AV is updated. Also you can go to:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ , download Stinger and run it (read the
instructions first of course). That cleans a bunch of the most current
pains.

There is currently a worm that sends you an email telling you that your
mail (that you never sent) could not be delivered. The email you received
was sent by a computer that was infected. If you open the email's
attachment, your computer will be infected too. Ignore and delete these
emails.

How can I remove it? Why did avg not see it?Avg scans my e-mail also.
Thanks in advance.

You do not need to remove it unless you opened the atachment. See my post!
Read It. Do what it says.

Hi Chris,First I want to thank you for your speedy response.
I do not open e-mail if I do not know the person.
But still I receive in the in box these refused e-mails.
I really want to stop them if it is possible.
Takes up too much room. I hope that I am explaining this right.
Thanks again.

There is nothing you can do about it. If and when all those people without
antivirus software do get up to date software installed, then it will stop
then.Your software is stopping it from infecting your computer.
