I was looking at explorer yesterday and noticed there was no C:\windows\temp
folder.

I created a folder with that mane and put it into the root drive lineup so
it now looks like it should.

But I am wondering if my just creating the folder was enough. Is there some
setting in the registrey that creates this folder? If so I suspect it got
deleted or corrupted and that is why the folder vanished.

Does anyone know the registry lines I need to check and possibly put back?
Or is just creating the folder myself enough. Seems too easy somehow.

Many thanks for any ideas.

Windows XP does not normally use that specific folder. It will
normally use c:\documents and settings\<LOGGED IN USER NAME>\Local
Settings\Temp

Open a Command Prompt window and enter

SET

The values reported for TEMP and for TMP will show you the current
default location for temporary files.

Good luck

C:\WINDOWS\Temp isn't used on XP.

The temp folder is:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Temp

Thanks. I knew about the temp folder under administrator but did not realize
it was the main.

Every user has their own temp folder. If you had three users, lets say
Bill, John, and Patrick, then there is 4 temp folders, one for each of
those 3, and the 4th one being Administrator.
