Help Please! Blue Screen Stop on HP Pavilion Laptop

My daugher is getting repeated stop screen errors (about
one per day) attributed to calihal.sys which appears to
be the driver for the integral audio system in the
Pavilion. The audio system is not operating correctly,
e.g. the volume and mute buttons are inoperative. I am
about to suggest to her that she remove the device from
the control panel and let XP reinstall it. Any better
ideas? I find noting in the knowledge base.

Check HP's website for an updated driver, download it and
install it.
