Help Please - 16:9 output not saving

Someone out there has to have an idea on this......
I have set Movie Maker to PAL/16:9 and it pulls from my video camera just
fine. I can view it within Movie Maker with no problem. When I post it to
my website or send it to someone else it plays within Window Media as 4:3 and
it is obviously squished in. DV AVI works with the 16:9 aspect ratio no
problem but file sizes are enormous.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If you're wanting to save in the .wmv format...
maybe using a custom profile would be worth
investigating.

Thanks John,
I didn't even know that this was possible. I'll have to look into it.
I was however able to pull off the movies on my friends laptop using the
MovieMaker. I fear that it is an issue isolated to my machine. I'll check
the custom profile option though.

I had this problem and the solution I found was as follows. It's not
straightforward and there are probably better/cheaper ones, but at least it
worked for me.

As part of my video tool-kit I have purchased a piece of software called
VideoReDo TVSuite.

What I do is to:

* open the VRO file created by my video camera (I have a mini dvd)

* In VideoReDo "Save Video As" but remembering (this is the important bit)
in the Save As dialogue to choose options, go to Aspect Ratio and choose
16:9 instead of the default "No Change".

VideoReDo will create an mpg file which can then be opened in WMM.

(An additional workaround was required in my case if I wanted to use
transitions in WMM. For some reason WMM would not output transitions
correctly from the MPG. Therefore, before I could get the transitions I
wanted, I would have to "Publish To" "This Computer" in WMM to create a WMV
which would then edit and produce transitions properly. )

All this seems a lot of additional work but it's better than not having a
solution at all!

Maybe this will be helpful; I hope so.
