Help OS crash !!!

My notebook just crashed with this error msg when I boot
up.

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The windows Logon Process system process terminated
unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000080
(0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

I have some data inside my hdd that I need to retrieve.
But I could not do it cos I cannot get into the c drive.
Can someone advice on how I can retrieve my data?

Try booting to safe mode or try a repair install of xp(if you have an xp cd
and not a recovery cd).

I'd suggest two stages of approach: First see if you can boot, hitting
F8 at the BIOS info goes to black, and logon to Safe Mode, choosing
Administrator. That ought o give an opportunity to run System restore,
back to before the trouble - if it will logon at all, which in this case
it may not.

If that does not succeed, then a repair reinstall may help - Set the
BIOS to boot CD before Hard disk, then boot the XP CD, start Setup (do
not take 'Repair' at this stage), then after the license agreement take
'Repair Installation'. This will retain your existing software
installations and most settings. But Updates will have to be run again,
especially SP1;
