help on restore IE settings

Your Search Bar setting looks fine, as IE is an MS
product, the Search Bar should be defaulted to a
microsoft.com setting. Mine is set to the same URL, so
you know.

As for fixing the other setting, there is a few things
that need to be done. First launch IE and then close it
after the page loads. Then run a scan using MSAS and see
if it returns any spyware. If it does, do NOT remove the
files until after a few more steps. Go to the prefecth
folder, located at c:\windows\prefetch, and see if any of
the files there have filenames similar to the infected
items returned by MSAS. If so delete or shred (using the
highest shred setting possible) them. If you don't have
a file shredder go to download.com and download one from
there, make certain it is free, not free to try. Once
these files have been shredded, then go back to MSAS and
delete the infected items. If you don;t get rid of the
offending items in the prefetch folder, each time you
launch IE, you will get re-infected. Next go to Tools >
Advanced Tools > Browser Settings Hijack Restore. Check
the box labeled 'Start Page,' click the 'Change restore
setting to a new URL...' hyperlink and type in the URl
that you want to use for your home page, and finally hit
Enter. This should solve the problem.
