HELP on questions about capture problems

I have been searching this newsgroup for an answer about
errors such as "A video capture device was not
detected" and "The video device is currently in use" and
have notice there are a lot of people with those same
questions about capturing video that no one has answered.
Is there anyone here that can help with this problem?

Tina - I had the same problem it turns out that in
theory while microsoft SAYS it can capture devices
(vcr"s) through the video device it really cannot
regardless of what you turn on or off. After about 100
hours with gateway and microsoft i finally got a media
specialist at gateway - they provided me with Pinnicle
MovieBox USB which is attached by firewire on my
computer. i connect my vcr by usual cables to the
pinnicle box which is connected to computer - works
great - transferring old vhs tapes to dvd. good luck
