Hello all,
I have an old Asus A7V ACPI Bios Rev. 1003 using Award Medallion Bios
V6.0. Now the problem is that i took out the old cd and cd-rw drive
and replaced them with a new faster cd-rw and DVD rom drive. It sees
the 2 drives in the BIOS, but it doesn't recognize it under windows
explorer in Windows XP. A friend told me that the 2 new drives are not
compatible with my system. I was wondering if i updated the Bios,
would it work? Also, what Bios would i update? The Asus Bios or Award
Medallion? What is the difference between the two anyway? Thanks
guys/gals.

You should not have to update the BIOS to get those drives
working. Did you jumper them properly? What happens if you
try one at a time?

I still have the same problem with trying one at a time. What is
interesting is that in Windows XP safe mode, it sees both drives(DVD
and CDRW). Really weird.
