I have a PC running an old Asus A7V ACPI Bios Rev. 1003 using Award
Medallion Bios V6.0. My cd-rw and DVD-Rom is seen in BIOS and safe
mode of XP, but not in windows explorer in Windows XP. I was told that
i should install drivers for both drives.

I need to look for a Lite-On DVD-Rom model "LTD-163"
driver. I went to LITE-ON website, but couldn't find one for this
model.

I also need to find a cd-rw drive model "GCE-8400B"
made by LG Electronics. I couldn't even find one on this site.

Anyone know of other sites out there that have these drivers?
Thanks a million!

Sorry, didn't get the original, will reply here.

You don't need drivers for the drives - never have done, never will (maybe).

There are no drivers for drives.

I recommend that you install the latest 4in1 drivers from www.viarena.com
and reboot.

If that doesn't solve your problem, go to Start -> Run and type "cmd"
without the quotes and hit enter.

In the command window, type:
Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Devmgmt.msc

In the new Device Manager, select View -> Show Hidden Devices and remove all
of your cd rom drives, reboot.

Let me know how it goes.
