I installed a new bios because I get APCI Event Type: Error
"AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address
(0x4d1), which lies in the 0x4d0 - 0x4d1 protected address range. " I was
hoping the new BIOS would give better ACPI support. I use daul boot to Win
ME. Win ME works fine with the new bios. Win XP will not load. Safe mode
will not load. If I start to DOS it begins to load, listing drivers as the
load, then locks at "Alim1541.sys" driver. I can load the new BIOS or
reinstall the old BIOS without problem. So, I Tried reinstalling Win XP both
with new& old BIOS. XP will only work with the old BIOS.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
