AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address

After installing a new hard drive and XP Home addition I
now have problems sustaining connection to the internet.
Within a few minutes, I receive a shutdown error and my
event viewer indicates the following, "AMLI: ACPI BIOS is
attempting to read and write to an illegal IO port address
(0xnnnn), which lies in the 0x4d0 - 0x4d1 protected
address range." Before I installed the new hard drive and
OS, I did flash the bios (which had never been upgraded)
to the latest version.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Joseph

.
have you checked for the presence of blaster or welchia
and other viruses? would be interested in the ie error
message as opposed to what you find in the event viewer
system folder.

I believe it was a system32 svc host exe. error, which
didn't pop up all the time so it was difficult to catch.
Unfortunately, I didn't load the antivirus software right
away. I hope loading/running it will solve the problem.
