Help Needed

I

Ian

I am having a problem with my system. Every once in awhile my screeen
will flash to a screen that is amlost like a grey plad color. It flashes to
this for a second and then goes back to normal. I have ran Lavasoft, Spy
Doctor and Windows Defender. I have also ran Nod32 and Trend Micro House
Call to try and fix the problem thinking it may be spyware or virus related.
The only other thing I can think of is that I download Doom 3 Demo from the
official website. So if anyone can think what may cause this, help would
greatly be appericated.

In closing I am also wondering if it could be my video card. I have
gone to their website looking for a diagnostic utility and can't find one.
Is there a diag tool that would work.

I kind of like gray plaid myself. I guess I'm strange that way.

First thing to do is to unplug both ends of your video cable and look at
the connectors. Any pins broken or bent?

If not, re-attach the video cable and make sure it's securely attached
on both the monitor end and the PC end.

Still seeing plaid? It's the new black, you know.

Restart your computer is Safe Mode, which bypasses your video driver and
uses instead Windows' built-in VGA driver. If plaid goes away, then you
need to reinstall your video driver, or upgrade to the newest version of
your video driver.

Plaid still there? A lot of fashion-forward people would love to see
that on their monitors this season.

Try your computer with a different monitor. If plaid goes away, your
original monitor needs to be replaced. If plaid is still there, your
video card needs to be replaced.
