Help needed with error sending email

This is intermittent, but frustrating. I haven't been able to send email at
all today. I get the following error.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject

For some strange reason, that server is not responding on port 80
(normally it does). The error message you got with port 25 indicates
you are connecting from a rr.com connection, and that RoadRunner
is in violation of an anti-spam policy, see
http://www.spamhaus.org/pbl/query/PBL258822
Changing the port number will not circumvent the anti-spam blocking.
As suggested there, the best workaround is to do your sending with
the appropriate rr.com server. For you that would be
smtp-server.socal.rr.com.
Let me know if you need more help with that.

I work primarily from home with webmail, I don't have rr email, it looks like
the direction from them pertain to thier email being added to windows mail.
If I am wrong, what happens when I go tot he office, will it not work from
there because they don't use rr? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Sending via webmail, either at home or at the office, should work just fine.
The error below pertains only to sending via Windows Mail while
connected to the Internet through Roadrunner. You should be able to
send using Windows Mail while at the office, because your Internet
connection source will be different.

I can use the webmail fine if I log in directly, but I wanted to use it
through Windows Mail. My co-workers use outlook, but I couldn't send mail
through that so I downloaded Windows Mail. Besides the Outlook is version
2002 and I don't know how it got on my new computer! Does this mean I can't
use Wondows mail for my webmail?

I thought your problem with not being able to send with Windows Mail
occurred at home. Are you now saying the same problem happens
at the office also? If so, please post that error message.

You mentioned that you don't use RoadRunner for email. However, since
you pay them to provide your home Internet connection, they are obligated
to give you an email address, something like (e-mail address removed).
You may already have been assigned that email address, but you forgot
about it. Check with their customer service, because you will need that
email address and its associated password to make your Windows Mail
capable of sending from home.
