HELP, my windows isnt working

I logged on to my computer and the icons and back ground
had enlarged themselves. I tried to change the resolution
and the system shut down. When I rebooted the screen went
through the emachine logo and then the windows xp loading
window and then It just went to a shade of grey. Is there
any way I can fix this.
