change size of taskbar icons

Guest

Running XP SP3. My laptop screen resolution is 1280 x 800. Using display
properties I have enlarged desktop icon sizes, fonts, etc. to make them
visible.

Is there a control that will enlarge the icons on the taskbar? I know that
I can change the DPI setting, but that causes other problems and I would
like to avoid that.

Thanks.

Change the value (####) in this key to resize the Taskbar icons:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]
"MinWidth"="-####"

Thanks, but that key does not exist in my
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]

Do I add it and if so do I add it as a
string value
binary value
dword value
multi-string value
expandable string value

If I add it as "key" it appears under desktop instead of under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]

Thanks.

Why? This topic has nothing to do with 'help_and_support'.

and what are the range of sizes to enter?
Thanks.

So why are you now fiddling around in the registry?

Changing Display Properties > /Appearance\ > [Advanced]
Item: [ Caption Buttons ] worked - but it enlarges both the taskbar icons
_and_ the minimize/maximize/X buttons. Apparently the two are linked in
this control. To get the taskbar icons where I want them makes the MMX
buttons too large. So I was looking for a way to enlarge the taskbar icons
without also enlarging the MMX buttons.

Unfortunately the suggested registry changes do not seem to work in my XP
setup.

Still looking for a way to enlarge the taskbar icons separately .......
