Change Desktop Icon font

I am running XP MCE with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 and the text size
is too small for me. I know I can change the resolution to a lower one but
would prefer to keep it at this native resolution because this is a Notebook
with LCD display. I also know that I can change the DPI setting
(Settings\Advanced\DPI setting) but doing that messes up the display on some
apps.

Is there a way to just change the font size for the text (name) under the
desktop icons? Appearance\Advanced does not seem to include that item.

Yes it does. Look again. The first item that shows up in the little
window is Desktop. There is a drop-down arrow next to it. Click the
drop-down arrow and see the other items you can change. Where an
element has a font, you can change the size/font to something you
prefer. The icon text is one of them.
