Help! My computer has a mind of it's own

I have been having a problem with pop-ups on my computer.
The weird part is that IE will just suddenly open on it's
own and all these pages open. I don't even have IE open
when it happens! Plus it keeps changing my homepage and
adding all these "Favorites" that I really don't want on
my computer.
I tried installing AdAware but it kept happening so I have
uninstalled that.
Any advice would be great.
