Help - Modify User Objects in AD

G

Gabriel

I read a lot of messages in the w2000 newsgroups but i
can't find the solution for my problem.

I need to modify a lot of users objects in active
directory from an exported file from Exchange 5.5 and from
another app in a .csv file too. I try with csvde utility
but is only for creation and not for modify. With ldifde
is not a good idea because I have to edit a lot of users.
Do you have a solution for this issue ?.

Is it possible to get the new released versión of
the Admodify utility because i need to update the address
fields ?

Thanks in advance...

Gabriel,

Give me an e-mail address and I will send version 1.5g to you. ldifde is
still an option, even with a ton of records to update.

Cary:
My e-mail address (e-mail address removed), i will
appreciate if you can send the tool for me. Could you
rename the file to .txt due to our antivirus system that
removes some file extensions. Could you give me more
details about using ldifde with a lot of records to update.
Thanks in advance.

Gabriel,

I will gladly do this. However, the file is a .zip file so I can send it as
a .zip file or as a .txt file. I will send them to you in a bit.

As for ldifde, take a look at the replies that I have given to the posts
from TTS.

HTH,

Cary

Cary:

I only receive the comctl32 file, I think that our
antivirus system is filtering the .exe files, is it
possible for you to unpack the .zip file and rename
to .txt the .exe file and probably the .chm file and send
the new renamed files.

Thanks in advance

Thanks, I received the new version of Admodify and it
was usefull for modify the City field. I used the dsmod
user tool to populate the users fields in the AD. I create
a batch file with some manual details and it works fine,
but I was unable to modify the Country field. I tried with
all available tools but it was imposible. All users will
have the same Country. I test in a AD with a test domain
in W2003 and it was possible to modify the Country field
selecting with the shift key all the users and modifing
with the "properties for multiple objects" facility. The
productive AD is in w2000 domain and We couldn't do the
same change. Some idea ?.

Thanks in advance..

Gabriel,

There is a link that Chriss posted that I do not have readily available. I
will look for it and post back here later.

Gabriel,

Here is the post from Chris which has the link:

You can actually use the new version of AD Users and Computer that comes
with Windows Server 2003 and can be downloaded and handle Windows2000
Domains as well. it supports multiple editing of objects. Admodify is
also a
good comandline based tool.

To Obtain and install the ADModify utility. To obtain ADModify, contact
Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS).

The only corrections to it would be that ADModify - as we both know - is not
a command line tool and that you do not necessarily need to contact MS PSS
to obtain it.
