I have yahoo account but I do not pay for it. It's free.

Then you can only access yahoo mail using a web browser (Internet Explorer,
Firefox, Safari etc).
What should I do? My email is correct, my password is
correct... I don't get it.

You gotta have Yahoo Mail Plus paid service. It's about $20/year, if I
remember correctly.

If your using Windows Mail, you do NOT have a WinXP computer.

If you are not a Yahoo Plus subscriber or your Yahoo account is not
associated with your ISP (e.g., AT&T), you will not be able to access the
account in Windows Mail or any other Mail Client.

sorry, i just remebered ISP is internet service provider.

Yes.

SO I guess I have
to call verizon, right?

Probably not.

Yes, if you are using an e-mail address of the form (e-mail address removed).

No, if you are using an e-mail address of the form
(e-mail address removed).

You need to get the information on server names from your e-mail
provider, not your ISP. When Tim Slattery suggested you call your ISP,
he was assuming that you were using an e-mail address provided by your
ISP, and you therefore needed their server information. Although most
people use their ISP's server, you apparently don't.

I'm not an expert on Yahoo e-mail, but as far as I know, you can't use
a POP3 e-mail client with it *unless* you either have a paid yahoo
e-mail account, or you use special software such as YPOPs.

Please contact the maker of the anti-virus software you are using. It
seems that the anti-virus software is attempting to scan you email
messages.

Nah! She's clearly using the wrong server names.

I have had this computer for 2 years and I can not figure out how to send or
recieve mail. Everytime I try to send email... this is what appears...

The host '(e-mail address removed)' could not be found. Please verify that
you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'Emailing: 100_3873', Account: 'POP3', Server:
'(e-mail address removed)', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11003, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

There is a basic error here. (There may be other errors in your
configuration.) The server name should look something like
pop.yahoo.com. You seem to have entered your own
email address @ yahoo. Both "host" and "server" are
other computers -- not people or personal addresses.

You can do that in order to use Verizon's servers to send and receive
email. Mail addressed to your Yahoo account would not go to Verizon's
server.

No YOU are wrong. yes they can be accessed but only if a third-party
utility like YPops is used.
Otherwise, unless you have a .uk or a .fr (there may be others) only
PAID Yahoo accounts may be accessed using POP.

Just like Bellsouth.net and ATT.net have gone to Yahoo mail, it seems
Verison has also. They are all accessible through a POP, and SMTP server:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/verizon/mail/classic/pop/index.html

In particular:

POP Verizon Yahoo! Mail with Another Email Client
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/verizon/mail/classic/pop/pop-14.html

.. states, in part:

POP Verizon Yahoo! Mail with Another Email Client

Want to use another email program to send and receive Verizon Yahoo!
Mail messages? If so, you'll be asked to designate a new incoming (POP3)
mail server and a new outgoing (SMTP) mail server.

Here are the basic server settings for Verizon Yahoo! Mail:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net (No SSL, port: 110)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net (No SSL, port:
25 or 587, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Verizon Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address
without the "@verizon.net")
Email Address: Your Verizon Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., (e-mail address removed))
Password: Your Verizon Yahoo! Mail password

If you can't add new POP or SMTP servers, you'll need to change your
current server settings to access your Verizon Yahoo! Mail account.
Write down your current settings first—you might need to revert to them
later if you decide to send and receive messages from your other email
addresses.

Your other email program will give you the option of either deleting
your Yahoo! messages from the Yahoo! server after downloading them, or
leaving them on the Yahoo! server so you can see them online in your
Yahoo! account, too.

[Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Hotmail...yes, the names are
bery confusing. Ditto for Outlook & Outlook Express. Will they ever
learn?]

Yes but you are in effect paying for Yahoo mail through the ISP.....

Agreed.. I'm merely showing that this is now available for Verizon
customers, and probably the cause of the inability to get mail anymore.
In the case of Bellsouth customers, it was forced on them; they
received emails alerting them to the change, with instructions on
changing the setup. I suspect this happened with Verizon too. So the
OP needs to go to the mentioned link and see how to make the changes
within Windows Mail.

All this has since been posted; I wasn't trying to correct anyone, just
get the information out.

and this....

Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Are these both for the one account ?
