I am trying to login to an old computer of my with
windows 2000 Professional. It has user name defaulted
with administrator. no matter what user ID I use it is
not accepting my old password. Is there a way i can buy
pass the password or use a "master" password??

THanks,
Scott

No. There is no master password.

You need to know the current password.

Not entirely hopeless. Try one of those Linux password
cracks (www.bootdisk.com) and change the local
administrator password. From there, you can reset your
password to what ever you like.
