Help! local user to access network folder/share

We have an temporary external contractor starting soon,
and I was wondering if anyone can say how I can set him up
to be able to log onto with local account but be able to
access network shared folder? Is this possible?

What will need to be done?

you will need to setup an account for them on the file server or in the
domain. from there the contractor can leave there laptop unjoined to the
domain and map to the share and supply the domain/local server credentials.
