HELP! I've deleted everything from my desktop using FrontPage

V

vanillla

I need help to recover my documents and applications (I saved
everything on
my desktop). I was publishing a temporary index page and after
deleteng it.
I've realized that on the bottom left corner name of documents and
folders
and applications are showing up and realized that FrontPage was on the
way to
publish everything from my desktop. I pressed Stop button. Then I had
the
option to delete those items. I thought it is not possible that it is
asking
me for deleting for good. It could just ask me for deleting from the
list of
publishing items.
What had happened that everything was deleted from my desktop.
Morover they are not in the bin.
I do not where they are.
And yes I did not make any back up copy.

Thanks
Vanillla

SORRY, Please ignore this thread. This posting is a mistake I was posting it
at USENET Google. (or I thought I did?) Apparently this day is not my day.

You are posting to usenet.

Sounds like you had changed your desktop into a website and have now
deleted a lot of stuff...bad news is deleting stuff that Frontpage thinks is
a web or web related goes bye-bye without stopping at the Trash bin.

Isn't it possible to 'step back in time' with Windows so that you can
restore your work to the eay it was a day or two ago. I had to do that once
.... not for a FP problem though???

I believe that's only system files effected by Windows System Restore; not
*data* files.

In my experience data files created by various applications (Word, Excel
etc) are left alone.

Not so. The list of file extensions (shown on one of the thousands of MSDN
pages to which I have lost the link) is amazingly extensive, including *.DWT
files....

Don’t back up your work tomorrow, if you could do it today!

Eleanor you are a G E N I U S!
Everything has been restored to my desktop that was in a folder. Those I
just saved on the desktop without filing them into a folder and my Excel
documents are gone.
Thank you Eleanor!
