HELP! Inbox disappeared

Capo Annie

My husband is running OL2002 and has lost his inbox. The
computer made a strange noise and an error message popped
up: Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could
not access the specified folder location. Errors have
been detected in the file C:\Documents and Settings\Malin
Romano\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit all mail-enabled
applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool.

We ran the repair tool which provided a "Recovered
Folder" but there is still no Inbox and he cannot receive
mail. Trying to open the inbox gets the following
message: Unable to display folder. MO could not access
the specified folder location.

PLEASE HELP! Our livelihood depends on it!

If there were problems with the file then you may have a lost and found
folder as a sub folder to Deleted Items

How can we get the Inbox back? It's not there! Does
that have anything to do with the location of the Lost &
Found folder?

Feel free to e-mail to (e-mail address removed); for some
reason it doesn't display my e-mail address in the
general discussion area.

Thank you!

Did you see anything in the (sub)folders? Also is the file from before the
repair a lot bigger than after the repair? It could very well be possible
that your pst-file is beyond repair then and that the mails are gone.
Since you also heard (not so) funny noises from your computer (weird
cracking, ticking and buzzing perhaps?) it could also mean that your hard
disk is about to fail. You might want to contact your computer supplier to
see if they can verify this for you.

The recommendation is that if scanpst created a lost and found folder then
the pst was too corrupted to save any further and to create a new pst and
drag/drop items from the lost and found to this new pst.

It happened to me last night too. OutlookXP, my laptop failed to
un-hibernate, corrupted outlook. Now I have no Inbox.
My Inbox is now under "lost and found", but cannot act as an Inbox ie.
no mail can be received there, or anywhere at all.
And, when I create a new data file, it comes up empty (i.e. no
sub-folders).
How does one create a new, empty PST file with all of its parts
intact?

Make it the default for mail delivery Tools > Email Accounts > NEXT >
Deliver new mail to the following location
