Hi I recently accepted a friend of mines hp pavillion ze5700 notebook to try
and fix for him, well I got it home and started it up and first it said that
the ntldr file is missing so I got my windows XP Pro disk out and tryed to
get the computer to boot from the disk so windows would come on but it always
says setup could not complete and finally it is saying "the session manager
initialization system process terminated unexpectidly with a status of
0Xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000) Fatal system error!
I have tryed to get it to the bios setup when it boots but nothing ever
happens and I can't ever get to that point I have tryed to do the R for the
recovery console thingie but that hasn't worked either. I have searched for
48 hours online through many of different web links trying to figure out what
happened to this notebook and how I can go about fixing it but I always seem
to keep running into brick walls because I can't even get it to the bios
setup part to see if I can fix it there so PLEASE can anyone help me I am so
desperate and in need of someone who knows what might be going on here.
Thanks in advance for your help Treblinka4444

Your problem has nothing whatsoever to do with Windows XP
(or any Operating System).
You have a hardware failure.
If you "...can't even get it to the bios..."
then either the MoBo is dead, or you are in way over your head.

Please describe how you have been trying to enter the BIOS setup. I
believe the proper way is by pressing the F1 key when prompted.

IT depends on the computer. Not all computer systems use F1 to enter BIOS.

F1 is *NOT* a *universal* Keyboard Command.
There are many BIOS suppliers.
Many of those suppliers use unique Keyboard Commands to access their BIOS.
Michael Stevens has provided a comprehensive list of suppliers and their
access commands:

That is correct, Unknown. It does depend on the computer/BIOS.

I told the OP that I believed the proper way to enter BIOS on *his* PC
(HP Pavilion ze5700 notebook) was by pressing F1. But it appears that
F10 is the correct key, after all:

"HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS or ROM for Notebooks Running
Windows XP"
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00026926&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=455046

Regardless, if one pays close enough attention as the computer is
booting up, the key will be indicated on the screen briefly before
Windows starts.

IT depends on the computer. Not all computer systems use F1 to enter
BIOS. "Daave said:

No, that's not correct. F1 may be correct for you, but it's not
correct for everyone. How to get into your BIOS depends, not on
Windows, but on what motherboard/BIOS you have. As a matter of fact,
you have to access the BIOS before Windows even starts to boot. One
common way is to press the Del key when you first power on, but that's
not necessarily right for your computer. Watch the screen carefully
when you first boot; there's often a message there telling you what to
do. If not, check your system documentation or check with your vendor.

Also look here: http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm Or
just try the Del key. There's a good chance that's correct for you.

---I have the same problem , but I CAN access my bios by using delete, but
that will not solve your problem ---I have looked up that error message and
the cause is usually a third party upgrade that might have been done to a
driver and this causes conflict and the system will not start --another cause
is basically the same thing but some certain files will not be copied from
the disc due to some hardware or software failure or driver upgrade....I have
tried to reboot from the PRO disc and the same files will not be copied...I
have also tried using my original XP HOME but I get a INF-start text file
--(something like that anyway) missing cannot continue press any key to
exit,,, the it restarts and the same old error message comes up......my
question is...how can I get rid of the current partition and use the original
XP HOME disc to see if that resolves the problem?????
