Thought that might get some attention..
I am starting out working with Frontpage on my boss' webiste. the site is
already done and I am just updating information and adding links and stuff...
got how to do that. BUT I need to add a page... simple, BUT when i went into
Navigation mode, my 1st website (my daughters) that I have threw my internet
provider came up... NOT my boss' navigational info.
I know that I can only upload index.html to a website, but I don't want to
interwind my daughter's site with my bosses site and any new ones that I
might be making.
HOW do I seperate them???
easy, english form please....

THANKS

When i uploaded all of the zip files... should I have opened a NEW WEB PAGE

When I go to Web Sites and hit more, it isn't in there, the site if in My
Documents under a folder of my bosses name, then I click on the index.htm

| What zip files??
| You can't open a zip file in a browser!!
|
| You need to create a website ( disk based web ) on your machine, and then
publish the site
| to a server.

Thank you guys...
THe zip files, the original web designer sent me all of the website files
(zip form) and then I unzipped them and open up her index.htm file in
frontpage 2003. Now I am trying to update info and add new pix and info and
of course a new page....
I only have one book for front page that is good, but it didn't have any of
this info in the book and I don't understand all of those codes and BIG words
yet... ha ha ha
I just don't want to upload her new site and then my daughters site come up
or those pix come up on the site too!!!!!!
thanks for you help :)

Can we start over?

Patti, are you working on your own computer, or is your daughter's website
on your boss's computer at the office?

Which ever... Steve's instruction is right about needing a web folder for
daughter's website and another web folder for boss' website.

Patti you say you have been just updating your boss' site that is already
done. Is it true that you already have a separate folder in My Webs (1 for
daughter) and (1 for (boss)?

What seems to be missing is, you have to create the path to your boss'
website at his ISP, instead of using the path to the daughter's website at
your own ISP. In your boss' navigational info they gave you, find the boss'
path to his website. When your daughter's website comes up when you are
publishing, select the daughter's path, and 'over-type in' your boss' path.

If you don't have that path (the address to his site) but you know how to
find the site on your computer, go there. On that first page, copy the URL.
That is the path to your boss' site.

For the public: We blondes have trouble because we can't always ask the
question right, or the teacher is a genius who forgets how to start out
simple (grin).

HI
Of course we can start over.
All of these sites are on my home computer. My daughters/sons site is threw
my internet provider and it is only 1 page :0
I am now going to be taking over my boss' site (who is an author, and lives
across the country, I work from home for her) anyway, her website/designer
can't do it anymore and since it is already done and up I was just going to
take it over and update it. She doesn't mind that I am a virgin.. BUT I
don't want to mess up her site.
Now kindergarten language ... should I start over from scratch? what would I
do?
Open up front page 2003
Open up new website? or open file?? I think that is where my problem is??
Plus I am blonde and I have no clue what I am doing!!! ha ha ha ha

Yes I do need to create a path... ahhhhhh help with that...
Sorry if I am a pain.... I try not to be, but I do have a 11 month old and a
3 year old so the blonde brain cells are GONE...
thanks again
Patti

and open up her index.htm file in frontpage 2003

AHA! Don't open index.htm. Close daughter's site and open the boss's
entire site.
(File/close site...open site) Then, all the pages will be there for you to
edit. And you won't publish the wrong web. Check the title in the border at
the top of your monitor before you do anything.

When you are in Boss' web in FrontPage and have saved everything and are
ready to publish, close all open pages. Have ready the exact directory name
of her web and the password she gave you. You can't publish without them.

For example, one of my web's URLs is
http://home.nycap.rr.com/smallfamily/
(my web's directory name is smallfamily)
...........................................................
Ready to Publish?
Still inside Boss' web, File > Publish Web
The Publish Web dialog opens
It may be pointing to daughter's website on the internet.
Select it, and 'over-type' the address of Boss' internet website
Probably already checked is "Publish changed pages only"
At the bottom of the box is the Publish button.
Click on it. The 'directory name' and 'password' must be typed in the next
dialog. It matters about uppercase and lowercase.
When you click OK, the publishing process begins. The time it takes depends
on how large or small the site is. When it is done, you will get a "Done"
message, and an invitation to take a look at the updated website.

Important.
If you get any messages before the "done" message, be ready to write them
down. When you need help, the first thing you will be asked is, "What
messages did you get?" Be specific.
