Help: How do I restore my website with Frontpage?

I am a novice when it comes to FrontPage. Recently I tried to do some
updates to a website for an organization that I belong to. I installed
FrontPage 2003 and attempted to publish the website to my local computer to
get started. Rather than publishing from remote to local I synchronized the
two sites. That’s when the problems began. Buttons (links) disappeared and
other problems have occurred. A friend of mine told me that by synchronizing
to an empty (newly created) folder I inadvertently overwrote the structure of
the site.

My question is this:

The last remaining (backup) copy of this site is on the previous webmaster’s
computer. How do I overwrite everything at the remote computer and put the
site back the way it was before I touched it? Is it as simple as publishing
from his ‘local computer’ to the remote? We have one shot to make this right
again.

Thanks in advance from a newbie!

If the web host does back up, have them restore the site, as their back up would be more recent.

I tried that route. The web host claims that they have no backups - they
don't handle content.

Ok, then as long as the other person has FP installed and the server has the FP extensions, then do
a complete publish from his local to the live/remote server via http.

Thanks for the help! I want to make sure that all of the files modified at
the host are overwritten. Are there any options that need to be selected,
boxes that need to be checked, etc? Will this restore the structure of the
site? (_vti_pvt)?

1. The _vti folder are never publish / copied between locations.

2. Use the complete publish option, then do a second publish with the Change Pages Only option
selected.
