HELP!!!!! Has anyone else seen this problem

N

Nancy Kafer

My company is trying to set up 30 laptops with Win 2K SP4, Office XP, Norton
Anti-virus, Cisco VPN Client, as well as a few other applications.
Everything appeared to be going fine until recently. We were testing just
fine then gradually (without warning or any rhyme or reason) we started
getting a message box that asked for the Office XP Professional CD. When we
insert the Office XP CD and try to continue we receive the message "The
patch package could not be opened...". At this point we have determined that
there is no good fix other than to reformat the machine and start over.

I have looked at the Microsoft knowledge base articles for this error and
tried the solutions from them but they don't work. Needless to say we are
stumped as to what could be causing this and are not feeling comfortable
with any installation.

My question is this: Has anyone ever seen this happen? If so, what could be
causing the failure? How can we fix the problem?

Thanks.

Nancy
