When I click on an email link at a web page, multiple (double digit) windows open in Internet Explorer. Get a message "Could not perform operation because the default mail client is not properly installed" then after that, the mega window closing ordeal commences
I have same problem as a guy named Joe did in a different thread (somewhere around March 20 +/- a week) except need to restore "Pegasus Mail" vice OE to the list in Internet Options/Programs so can set it up for the default Email Program in IE. Any suggestions? (I dont have OE and had recently tried to install Outlook 97 for occasional use; that didn't work and I un-installed it...I'm sure that process is what corrupted the Internet Options Select Email Program Applet; it worked prior to that...; I sure wish Tweak UI had put a "repair" utility for "this" into their utility)..
If anybody has a "fix" would appreciate it. I looked at the fix that was specific for OE and tried making the one registry key they talked about match exactly that on my laptop (which works properly but runs W98 W/IE6; my corrupted system is XP Home w/IE6). That didn't work ( I assume there are more registry entries elsewhere besides the local machines/software/clients mentioned in the tech bulletin) so I restored my backed up registry (saved it before I tried that)
