Multiple Windows Opening when try to click email link

I have same problem as Joe did in a different thread except need to restore Pegasus Mail to the list so can set it up for the default Email Program in IE. Any suggestions? (I dont have OE and had recently tried to install Outlook 97 for occasional use; that didn't work and I un-installed it...I'm sure that process is what corrupted the Internet Options Select Email Program Applet...; I sure wish Tweak UI had put a "repair" utility for "this" into their utility)..

I thought about taking the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Clients/Mail route from the service bulletin for restoring OE and making that particular registry key match perfectly what I have on my laptop which works (but its running W98 w/IE 6 so not sure if that would mess anything up). This computer has XP Home w IE6

Also get: "Could not perform the operation because th
default mail client is not properly installed", after acknowledging erro
is when the multiple copies start loading
