I have Windows XP for an operating system, I am presently taking a course on Windows XP and in my text book and on the computers at school, When you open the Help and Support Center and select the Support button, under support on the left side they have Ask a friend for help, Det help from Microsoft, and Go to a Windows Wsb site forum

My problem is that on my home computer, I only have Ask a friend to help and Go to a Windows Web site forum as options, can any one explain on why I do not have the Get Help from Microsoft option? I would appreciate if you would be able to help or tell me how to find it. I have also asked others if they have it on their home computer and they do

Hello
Mine just shows
Ask a Friend
&
Go to Windows Web Site

Mine has all 3, as your book says...

OOPS, I think I know why some have 3, and others have only 2...My Full
Version has the 3 options, and my other computer has the OEM version of XP
Home, and it ONLY has 2...

Hello Mat
Go to
Start>Control Panel>Internet Options>Advanced tab, click Set Defaults then
click Apply & OK
See if that will solve the problem.

my computer wont let me go to certain sites (hotmail, online bankings, and
others) anymore. a page always comes up that says DLS erroror cant find
server. Do you know how to fix this problem or know whats causing it?

Let me know if it works for you. I just tried it on the "OEM" Machine, and
it didn't make any difference...still only 2.

I am not the "Original" person who posted, but I have been "Following" all
this, and I tried your "hosts" name change, and it did not change the 2
options to 3, regarding the original question of the "Help & Support" issue.

Which XP version are you using? Professional or Home? Are you using at
your Workplace computer on which you don't have administrator rights?
If you are at home then try this:

Go to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and look for a file called HOSTS.
Once found, rename it as "hosts_renamed" without the quotes.
Reboot the system and now try going to hotmail.

If you are using some external software to block porn sites (parental
control software) then you might try disabling this temporarily to see if
this makes any difference.
If not let us know so that we can tell you how to repair your IE6 without losing your personal data.
