HELP: Folder Options

Guest

I went into the control panel > folder options > advanced tab to change
default icons for folders and file types. I selected "file folder," "folder,"
and the hard drive, all to simply change their icons. I made no other
changes.

After doing this when I tried to double click on any folder OR the hard
drive it did not open the folder; rather the find/search function came up
with the little dog in the bottom corner asking what I'd like to search for
in the given area.

I went back into the folder options and viewed the commands for the folders.
I believe "find" was the only option, so I added "explore" and selected
windows explorer as the program to use when opening the folders/hdd. Now,
when I double click on a folder it opens in a new window, even though the
"open links in same window" button is selected in folder options. I cannot
get this to change and now I have to open several windows when exploring a
folder with subfolders. I tried rolling back my settings but that was
unsuccessful...anyone know what the heck is going on here? Thanks in advance.

This is a real common problem.

Try this first.

Click Start | Click Run | Type or paste the following line:

regsvr32 /i shell32

Click OK.

A tip from David Candy.

If that doesn't fix it, see these...
