I got a message to download a new version of outlook connector (I have
hotmail account in addition to my main email account from Comcast)....and
then I lost any use of many menu items like send/recieve, data
management, mail setup-email accounts...etc. The links are dead. NOthing is
downloading for me....
I used the Detect and Repair and I uninstalled OUtlook connector and
reinstalled a few times.
I need to either fix the links or find somewhere to save all my emails so I
can get rid of Outlook!!!!!!! Please help...I dont want to lose my 1000's of
emails....
Also, my Hotmail account was secondary...it seems like it took over outlook.
My comcast account is primary. I can't get to the email account since the
links are dead.....

Did you reboot the computer? Try System restore to go back before the
connector was installed?

you won't lose your mail - but to be safe locate the pst and make a copy. If
you can open outlook, go to file, data file management and select your pst
then Open folder. Leave Windows explorer open and close the data file
management dialog and outlook. Wait a few minutes and copy the pst to
another folder.

Thanks Diane,
I rebooted several times as I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the
connector problem. THe links for data management, etc in outlook are
dead...i did try to do what you suggested. Another problem, the .pst file is
not to be found. Do you know the exact place it should be? I did a search
on the entire drive for .pst and it came up empty even though I see my 2000
emails are still there....
I did not do restore yet... I will have to try that I guess.....but people
tell me it causes more problems than it's worth....but will have to try it I
guess.
Another question---if I upgrade to Outlook 2007, will it transfer my emails?
MAybe that would work too?
Thanks again

PSTs are usually located in a hidden folder. Search won't find them unless
you enable viewing hidden files and folders. On Vista they're usually in
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook and on XP they're ususally in
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, but there's
nothing magic about those folders. You can put PSTs anywhere you like,
provided you have access to the folder in which you wish to store them.

I am having similar difficulties with the updated Connector. I have
installed it, uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, several times. But
it works only some of the time. Then it completely disappears from
Microsoft Outlook 2007. Is there any other way to link a hotmail
account to my main email account? How do I make it work? I can't
spend this much time on this problem on a regular basis.
