Hi folks-
I'm helping a colleague set up her computer (IBM T30 laptop with the
built-in Agere (Lucent) winmodem).
We set up a dial-up connection without incident, but when we ask it to
dial, it asks us to manually pick up the phone and dial ourselves,
replacing the handset after hearing the connection. ???
The modem driver (the latest, which works fine on my identical system
T30) seems installed correctly (though we've uninstalled/reinstalled it
as a test). If I go into Hyperterminal, I'm able to set up a connection
there which autodials properly. So, the modem and it's connection to the
computer are sound.
I think that there must be a setting somewhere that is incorrect, which
specifies that we want to manually dial, and I'm at my wits end trying
to find it.
We've recreated a new internet connection several times, and no setting
we use suggests it might be the cause.
Any thoughts?
Marc
