on properties for the drive its got sumthing bout code 37. whats that? and
it says 'Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code
37)'
please i need to kno what this problem is and how i can resolve it. ive
tried update driver but there are no updates and ive tried uninstalling it
and reinstalling it but still no better. i only found this out cos i was
installing napster and the burn part of it wldnt work so i went to find if it
installed but then i saw the yellow error mark on the cd drive.

probably need to go to the manufacturer's website and look up that code
number or download the driver from their site.

Maybe also, try to delete the driver, do a complete shut down, then power up
and see if win finds the device.

Also, you might have to check your cmos and see if the device is listed. If
not then either the device is no longer recognizable or you might simply try
to have the cmos search for it.

I had this problem with the drives and with Napster. What I did is
went to this website www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip and updated my
registry. I have my drives back but they are still not being seen by
Napster (but other programs still see them). I also read to track down
an ATAPI Update and uninstall it with "Add/Remove Programs". Since I
did the registry update I can say that one works but I do not have an
ATAPI update (which may have been removed in the registry update, since
I didn't read the ReadMe.txt) I can't say if that one works or not.
Still working on getting Napster to see the drives now. I'll let you
know if that happens.
