okay I just got this nice new mother board its a giga-byte ga-k8ns ultra 939.
I intstalled my graphics card and ati all in wonder 9200. I insalled hard
drives memory everything that you need to to run. I reformatted the hard
drive and performed a fresh or clean install of xp/w sp1. Everything went
well untill I did the restart after installing all the neccesary drivers. its
just shuts of and comes back on again, never reaching the xp boot scrreenyou
know the screen with the bar going side to side. It will boot and everything
will run fine if i set the bios to boot from cdrom and have the xp disc in
it. I have reinstalled it, ran chkdsk, fix boot, fix mbr, and nothing seems
to work. I have switched ide cables, removed modem and sound card etc. to try
to eleminate potential problems. I am stumped can anyone help. thanks much.

Hi,

So it boots ok if the CD is in place, but nada if it isn't? From the
Recovery Console delete boot.ini from the root of the system partition, then
rebuild it (bootcfg /rebuild) - see if this helps.
