Help appreciated? ("class installer")

I've posted this twice before but no-one's replied and it's starting to bug
me.

Basically the jist is, I've got a webcam that runs just great on my 9x
system, but the XP Pro one mentions something about the Class Installer
blocking the driver installation due to their not being digitally signed
(the drivers are from 1998). There are no newer drivers, so I can't simply
try that one, and this is really bugging me as I'm out of ideas.

Is anyone aware of any way to disable whatever this Class Installer is so I
can install non-digitally signed drivers? (I've tried the admin options
thats been mentioned on several website's, but it ignores the setting that
tells it to ignore the fact the drivers are not signed).

There's a screenshot of the error at;

Andrew,
Cheers for the reply. Unfortunately I've already tried all of
that, it doesn't seem to work (the error in the screenshot still comes up)

System Properties> Hardware> Driver Signing. Choose from Ignore, Block and
Warn. Restart the computer just in case this is one of those settings that
needs to be established from the moment Windows loads to be effective. If
the drivers still refuse to install after removing this roadblock, I would
not try to force them.

I've already tried that too (, thanks anyway.

I've not been able to find one. The only driver I can find is the same one I
already have (it's a VLSI Vision USB camera (driver version 1.60 dated
1998)).

I've checked all the usual places (driverguide.com, manufacterers homepage
etc etc).

I think you're stuck. Win 98 drivers can be very different than those used
in the NT based operating systems. If the operating system is refusing to
install the driver after lifting the bar on driver signing, there's usually
a darn good reason.
