Help ... anyone?!

I am having a very similar problem as Don (see his message
below). I'm unsure exactly what updates I installed
before this happened, but the site told me I had 4 updates
to download and I did them all. I recall seeing something
about "6-pack" and "4-pack" if that means anything to
anyone, and I did each installation then went to reboot
and it gave me this error message: "Explorer.exe has
generated errors and will be closed by Windows. An error
log is being created." Then it wouldn't let me shut it
down so I had to do it manually. Does this sound familiar
to anyone? Can anyone help? I don't want to be forced to
pay $300 to Microsoft for help on something I installed at
their suggestion! Thank you all very much.
