Help and support slow opening

When I click Start-->Help and Support, it takes approx.
30 seconds for the window to open. What is wrong? Is it
just because the file is very large?
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop and I noticed the menu
has been customized by Dell.
Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

Mike

The Help and Support Center connects to the Internet to populate the 'Did
You Know?' section. The slowdown has something to do with your Internet
connection. Any server coming between your computer and Microsoft's web site
could be the culprit. Microsoft's web site also experiences periods of
slowness.

It has nothing to do with Dell's customizations or the size of any file.

Hi Mike,

If the problem is seen only with the Start Menu Help and Support link (and you're able to launch Helpctr.exe normally), open Registry editor and navigate to:

HKEY CLASSES ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f1-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}

Export the above key to REG file and post the contents here.

Mike,

If the problem is also seen while launching Helpctr.exe directly, then it's not a problem with the registry key which we were talking about. It may be due to a Help Center customizations by Dell (As in HP, they add Instant Support plugin)
