Ramesh, I tried your suggestions with the following results:
Running %Systemroot%\inf started ok, but I had to manually find some of the
files during the install. I found:
"dataspec.xml" in c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\I386
"pchdt_p3.cab" in c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries
"HCAppRes.dll in c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries
"atrace.dll" in c:\windows\systme32
At that point, the install seemed to go ok, but I still did not get "Help
and Support" in the list of services.
I then copied the "helpsvc.re1" file that you attached and renamed it
"helpsvc.reg". When I double-click it I get the following message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not
have the appropriate permissions to access the item".
Any other ideas? Again, thanks for all your help.
Tom
Click Start/Run and type %Systemroot%\Inf
Locate PCHealth.inf and right-click, choose Install.
Insert the XP SP2 source CD when prompted.
If you don't have the integrated SP2 CD, mention the path to
X:\Windows\ServicePackfiles\i386
-or-
If that does not help, find attached the file <helpsvc.re1>
Rename helpsvc.re1 to helpsvc.reg
Merge the contents of the REG file by double-clicking it.
The Help Service entry is created automatically in the registry.

Thanks Ramesh. I tried what you said. I get a list of services, but
unfortunately "Help and Support" is not in that list of services. Do I need
to install something to get it in that list? Thanks.
Click Start/Run and type Services.msc
Double-click Help and Support service
Set the startup type to Automatic
Start the service manually.
