Help - All Databases secured

Okay, I have a real conundrum.... I have 3 secure databases... and something
happen over the weekend, and I have been unable to troubleshoot the problem..
All databases are coming up with my 1 Secured Workgroup that's for all 3
secured databases even new ones... workgroup - P:\01Quality 2005\TL
WEEKLY\PROJECTS\TeamLead1.mdw. Somehow this became my Access Default all of
the sudden... So I changed the ACCESS back to the system.mdw file for the
default, then some of my secured database tell me I have no permissions,
unless I return the Default back to the TeamLead1.mdw... I am totaly
mystified... I would like to start over, and just start fresh... is there a
way I can unsecure all these databases.... I have 1 secured BE that feeds
both databases (1 for reports, and one for data entry) I am thinking
somewhere along the line somthing or someone or maybe even I may have done
something that has totally messed up... I have a secured BE and FE... which
work fine until I try to change the ACCESS default workgroup back to system.
mdw..

One Secured Database shortcut file that points to : "P:\01Quality 2005\TL
WEEKLY\PROJECTS\TeamLead TestBE.mdb" /WRKGRP "P:\01Quality 2005\TL
WEEKLY\PROJECTS\TeamLead1.mdw" - now will only work if the ACCESS Default
workgroup is the P:\01Quality 2005\TL WEEKLY\PROJECTS\TeamLead1.mdw...
otherwise it will tell me I have no permission... same with this one... I am
sure this makes no sense, but I have never had this happen before.... Also,
when I secured the database .... I wanted to just copy the BE to each Users
Desktop... I had them intially click on the shortcut that ACCESS created and
add to their desktop, but I know this is not the best way to do that... But
when I try to just copy the MDB file to their desktops it doesn't allow then
to launch... As you can tell I am not having a good time today... ;o( please
help if you can

I am a little confused by your description of the problem and not sure that I
have interpreted it correctly so a couple of questions and suggestions you
might like to try.

1. Have you actually checked that the paths have not been altered to
MSAccess, your Database file and your security .mdw file. Network
Administrators have a habit of doing this without warning. Carefully check
the Target in your Desktop icon against current reality for the location of
these three. If that is the problem then simply edit the Desktop icons.
However, if that is not the problme then a few more questions and suggestions.

2. Can you open a fresh instance of Access (That is, close Access completely
and then Open Access) and then create and save a database without having to
enter login details so that the new database has no security?

3. Are you able to log into the secured databases as the Database owner?

4. If you can do the above, then do step 2 first and close Access completely.

5. Open the secured database using the login Id and password.

6. Close the secured database but DO NOT CLOSE Access.

7. Open the newly created unsecured database and import all the objects from
the secured database into it. You can do this as one operation before
clicking OK to import if you select all of the objects in all of the tabs and
also select options and check the 3 boxes in the Import square. (Import
tables and Import Queries should default to 'Definition and Data' and 'As
Queries' respectively.) You may not need the 3 options in the first square
but Access just tells you it did not find them but that is OK and better than
not getting them if required.

8. Close Access completely and then you should be able to open the unsecured
database and can start all over setting up your security. (I can already hear
you about having to do this but better than loosing the databases.)

If the above doesn't help then I am out of suggestions.
