Hearts

Yesterday, I
downloaded and installed security patches from Microsoft.
Now I can no longer play in the same fashion; I just get a
message "Looking for three hearts players." Any ideas?

Man, it's a major issue. Look at posts for other games. I restored from the update and still cannot play!

Yep. I am suffering the same withdrawal pangs.
I suspect, but don't know for sure, that those
XP patches were meant to close some security
vulnerabilities. I guess they didn't test out all
possible impacts before releasing.

I tried the Zone.com version, but it's much
too kludgie for me.

I can not play any of the games on zone.com. I have not installed the latest windows updates yet althought they have been downloaded to my computer, so it can not have anything to do with the new updates. I can go to zone.com and download games from there. I read somewhere that microsoft are looking into the issue.

Hi JB,

| SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED BY "rat" IN TRYING TO CONNECT TO INTERNET HEARTS "LOOKING FOR THREE HEARTS PLAYERS" BUT NEVER FINDS ANY.
wHAT"S THE ANSWER? HOW ABOUT THE "BRAIN TRUST" AT MICROSOFT, IT SEEMS IT WAS YOUR PATCHES THAT CREATED THE PROBLEM......

Since the problem with the Internet Games has been tied to server side issues
it's suggested to play at www.zone.com until they are able to resolve the issue.

It's a slight inconvenience but certainly an acceptable workaround.
PS: They have been alerted about this issue. An alert has been sent to them.

You do not need to sign up for a Zone account or Passport to play games
at www.zone.com - You can chose the option to play as a GUEST. :)

Some of the Internet Game players take their games very seriously. If you're
one of them and prefer to escalate this issue, then email (e-mail address removed)

You can also visit the Microsoft Public Zone Newsgroups located at:
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?NewsGroup=microsoft.public.games.zone

Let's hope this inconvenience is settled quickly. Enjoy zone.com until then. :)

This is incorrect, JB, I'm seeing the same thing on two systems here running
unpatched currently. Please read the previous posts in this newsgroup, and
avail yourself of the proper newsgroup for Zone issues:
microsoft.public.games.zone.

MY APOLOGIES TO JIMMY S. AND CHRIS H. FOR NOT READING ALL THE POSTINGS. IF I HAD I WOULD NOT HAVE JUMPED TO AN ERRONEOUS CONCLUSION. AGAIN, MY APOLOGY...

SINCERELY

No problem. Lots of people are thinking this is caused by updates, whether
from Microsoft, Norton, McAfee, etc. It isn't. Best source of information
is the microsoft.public.games.zone newsgroup, however.

(And lose the all CAPS. That's considered shouting on the Internet, and is
very hard to read.)
