Hearing through the speakers and headset at the same time

Hi,

My friend has hearing difficulties and can hear only through the
headset. However, from time to time he wants also that his wife
listens to the chat and this can only be done with the speakers on.

Is there a way to have both the speakers and the headset "on" at the
same time?

Thanks for your help.

This is really more of a hardware feature than a software one.
Some speakers have headset outputs - some even have switches to go between
the two. Some with the outputs for headsets cut off the speaker output when
the headset is plugged in while others do not do this. Some sound cards
have two outputs for sound.. One amplified, one not. You could also just
buy a splitter (8mm splitter, 1-male-to-2-female) and plug it into the sound
output (Speakers always on, headset always on..)

Use a Y-adapter that connects to the sound card port and splits the signal
into two output connectors (ie, 1 @ 1/8" male connector x 2 @ 1/8" female
connector). These are available at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Future Shop,
etc. Retail at #5 - 10. Suggest getting a headset that has a volume
control inline with the cord.
