Headset vs speakers

Dell 5100, winxphome sp2.

When I connect my headset to the computer my speakers get disabled. Is it
possible to have them both enabled at the same time and is it possible to
switch between headset and speakers without having to disconnect the
headset??

Go to an electronics store -- not a computer store -- and ask them to sell
you a switch.

To do what you want it will require you to build a switch box with sterol
jack & cable to the sound card, and a stereo jack for your headset and
another stereo jack for the speakers. The switch will need to be a dual
wafer make before break three position type.

It would be much easier if you didn't want the headset and the speakers on
at the same time. If this is acceptable you could get a speaker or headset
switch. Brand name, PC Adapter ADAP II. And there is a bonus USB jack on
it. About $25.00 at Comp USA.
