Heading Numbering

Need help ASAP!

Is it possible to have headings numbered as such:

I. HEADING

1.1 Heading

II. HEADING

2.1 Heading

Yes. Add roman numerals to Level 1 of your outline numbering scheme
(http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html). For Level
2 and beyond, check the box for "Legal style numbering."

Well, that helped through header 2. Now I can't get header 3 to number
itself like:
I. HEADING

1.1 Heading

II. HEADING

2.1 Heading

2.1.1. Heading

In that case, the order of levels in the "Number format" box is just messed
up. Clear the box entirely, then select Level 1 in the "Previous level
number" box, type a period, select Level 2 in "Previous level number," type
a period, and select 1, 2, 3... in the "Number style" box to get the present
level.

It won't let me, it's grayed out.

Okay! I did it!!! I had to put Level 1 for the previous Level for 3. Does
this make sense? I can email you my style file if you'd like.

You have to include both Level 1 and Level 2 (plus the current level) in the
numbering for Level 3 if you want it to be right. Did you clear the "Number
format" box entirely before starting?
